Voting Qualifications
How to register to vote:
Idaho is a Motor Voter state, so mail-in registration cards are available at the driver's license offices in Twin Falls and Buhl, at Health and Welfare office on Poleline Road, at the Commission for the Blind, at Vocational Rehab, at the State Tax/Industrial Commission, and at the county clerk's office (County Courthouse, 425 Shoshone St. north). Remember to allow enough time for your mail-in registration to be received and recorded 25 days before the election.
OR you can register to vote on Election Day at your polling location (based on where you live). Contact the County Clerk at 736-4004 or at 425 Shoshone St N to find your polling location.
YOU MAY VOTE IF YOU ARE, on Election Day:
- a citizen of the United States
- at least 18 years old
- a resident of Idaho and Twin Falls County for 30 days
-duly registered (previous or Election Day registration)
*NEW REQUIREMENT*
To vote, you must either present a photo ID or sign a Personal Identification Affidavit.
Acceptable forms of photo ID include
- an Idaho driver's license or photo ID card
- a U.S. passport or Federal photo ID card
- a tribal photo ID card
- a current student photo ID

To vote for Republican candidates in the Primary Election, you must declare in writing that you are a member of the Republican Party. All voters can vote for Democratic candidates in the Primary Election.
YOU SHOULD REGISTER, OR RE-REGISTER ONLY IF YOU......
- have not registered in Idaho before
- have moved since you last registered
-have changed your name
- did not vote in the past four years in either a primary or general election
ELECTION DAYS:
Primary Election: May 15, 2012 from 8 am - 8 pm
3rd Tuesday in May
General Election: November 6, 2012 from 8 am - 8 pm
1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November
